North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program
The North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program provides up to $8,250 a year in forgivable loans to students committed to teaching special education or a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field in North Carolina public schools. Incoming first-year, transfer, and current UNC Charlotte students transitioning to a teacher education program are eligible to apply. The Cato Scholarship for Education
The Cato Scholarship for Education (https://ninerscholars.charlotte.edu/scholarshipsearch/scholarship.asp?id=1713) supports new first-year and transfer students who plan to pursue studies within the Cato College of Education. This renewable award is made possible by the generous contribution of the Cato Corporation. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to strong work ethic through meaningful part-time work experience or a commitment to volunteering through meaningful community service.
Lula Faye Clegg Memorial Scholarship
The Lula Faye Clegg Memorial Scholarship (https://ninerscholars.charlotte.edu/scholarshipsearch/scholarship.asp?id=1422) supports incoming first-year education students who graduated from a Charlotte-Mecklenburg high school in the top 10% of their senior class. This award is made possible by contributions from Ms. Clegg’s former students honoring her 40 years as a teacher in Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools. Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in and commitment to a career in teaching.
The Levine Scholars Program
The Levine Scholars Program takes the brightest, most capable students and gives them the tools, resources and environment they need to explore the world around them, engage deeply in their communities and excel across discipline. The four-year scholarship includes full tuition, room, board, a grant to implement a service project of the Scholar’s own design, and four summers of experiences that will develop leadership skills, social awareness and an international perspective. The total value of this four-year package is estimated at $105,000 for in-state students and $155,000 for out-of-state students.”
The Crown Scholars Program
The Crown Scholarship is a merit scholarship valued at $81,000, including $19,000 annually for tuition, room, board, and other expenses, and a $5,000 stipend for University-approved study abroad. In addition to a scholarship, the Crown Scholars receive support and enrichment through the Crown Scholars Program, the University Honors Program, and the Honors College.
